Contract Law

Contracts are a huge part of the everyday life, and thus they are a huge part of the legal system. Everything from purchasing a cup of coffee to going to a concert or sporting event technically involves a contract, often whether you're aware of it or not.
Retaining a lawyer is done with a contract. So is renting an apartment, buying a car, applying for a credit card, selling your house, using the internet (yes, even this website), getting married, getting divorced, and nearly everything in between.
One of the most important things contracts aren't are always written and signed documents. You enter into oral contracts everyday, too, and in most circumstances these oral contracts are just as important, and just as enforceable, as documented written contracts.
Contracts are ubiquitous and, legally speaking, can often be very complicated. Understanding the language in contracts can be very difficult, but often the most difficult thing is figuring out what to do to enforce the terms of the a contract if the other side fails to perform and is in breach.
In our practice, we utilize contracts every day in general civil litigation, as well as in a variety of other legal areas. We draft them. We execute them. We interpret them. And if and when we need to, we litigate them.
Our clients' most frequent contract issues are with leases and mortgages in landlord/tenant law and real estate law, and also a wide variety of issues with employment law, including issues related to an employment contracts, non-competition or non-solicitation agreements, severance packages and settlement agreements, and independent contractors looking to enforce the terms of existing agreements.
